My name is Joni Shaw Smith and I’m a proud member of the Keller/North Fort Worth Community. We moved to the area in 2011, to raise our children in the Keller Independent School District. For the last 12 years,
we have called Park Glen home.
My husband, Jeff (whom I met our first day of college and has held my heart ever since), is an exercise physiologist. We both graduated from Texas Christian University where we earned our Bachelors and Masters degrees. Together, we run a fitness company and a media production company.
I am a LIVE Events and Broadcast producer and creative director for large corporations across the globe.
We have two children, Jett (16) and Jaxson (14). They attend Fossil Ridge High School in Keller ISD. Jett is an avid fisherman and member of the Keller Varsity Bass Team, as well as, runs his own business, Jett’s Cookies. Jaxson plays select and high school baseball. Both are National Honor and National Junior Honor Society members and Jaxson served on
the Principal's Council at VRMS.
I was very involved with the Park Glen PTA (where Jett and Jax attended K-4) and Sunset Valley PTA (where Jax attended 5th) and I served on those boards as Chair of various committees since 2013. I have chaperoned field trips, been Room Mom, designed yearbooks, created newsletters, managed PTA social media pages, built PTA websites, volunteered with Movie Nights, Fun Runs, Santa Shops, and more. I feel like this has not only been a great opportunity to serve others, but to cultivate relationships with teachers, staff, students and fellow parents. Aside from being a Keller ISD School Board Trustee and Secretary from May 2022-2025, I also serve on the Keller CTE Board.
My experiences with Jett and Jaxson in Keller schools, and as an active member in PTA for many years, has shaped how I view education. I believe strong relationships between teachers, staff, and parents -and the ability to participate in school decision making- are key to fostering positive relationships and ensuring all kids get an exceptional education.
We need strong leaders who recognize this, which is why I’m so honored to have been elected as a trustee to serve on the
Keller ISD School Board.
I can honestly say that serving Keller ISD from May 2022-May 2025 has been one of the most rewarding, humbling, and impactful experiences of my life.
To my supporters—thank you. Your encouragement, time,
and trust have meant the world to me.
To the incredible administrators, teachers, and families I’ve had the privilege to serve and work alongside of- thank you for your partnership,
dedication to our students, and passion for this district.
I have poured my whole heart into this role, staying fully invested in representing this community and ensuring your voices were heard.
I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve accomplished, and I leave this position knowing I kept my promises and never wavered
in my commitment to our district.
I went down fighting with everything I had to protect and advocate for ALL of our students, educators, and families. And I won’t stop now.
There is still so much important work ahead.
