Succesful businesswoman, volunteer, wife
and mom of two serving on the
Keller ISD School Board
in order to give parents their voice back
when it comes to their children's education.
My name is Joni Shaw Smith and I’m a proud member of the Keller/North Fort Worth Community. We moved to the area in 2011, to raise our children in the Keller School District. For the last 10 years, we have called Park Glen home.
My husband, Jeff (whom I met our first day of college and has held my heart ever since), is an exercise physiologist. We both graduated from Texas Christian University where we earned our Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Together, we run a fitness company and a media production company.
We have two children, Jett (14) and Jaxson (12). They attend Fossil Ridge High School and Vista Ridge Middle in the Keller School District. Jett is an avid fisherman and member of the Keller Varsity Bass Team, as well as, runs his own business, Jett’s Cookies. Jaxson loves the thrill of being on two wheels and has raced BMX, rides motocross and mountain bikes while his artistic side loves to paint, create Legos, and even performed in Sunset Valley’s Winter production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
I have been very involved with the Park Glen PTA (where Jett and Jax attended K-4) and served on the board and various committees since 2013. I have chaperoned field trips, been Room Mom, designed yearbooks, created newsletters, managed PTA social media pages, built PTA websites, volunteered with Movie Nights, Fun Runs, Santa Shops, and more. I feel like this has not only been a great opportunity to serve others, but to cultivate relationships with teachers, staff, students and fellow parents.
My experiences with Jett and Jaxson in Keller schools, and as an active member in PTA for many years, has shaped how I view education. I believe strong relationships between teachers, staff, and parents -and the ability to participate in school decision making- are key to fostering positive relationships and ensuring all kids get an exceptional education. We need strong leaders who recognize this, which is why I’m so honored to have been elected as a trustee to serve on the
Keller ISD School Board.
Thank you for electing me to this position so that we can make sure that
Keller ISD continues to be intentionally exceptional.

Making change and forging new paths isn't easy, but it helps when you have a support system behind you! Whether it is door knocking, delivering campaign signs, being a supporter at the polls, or just helping to spread the message of my campaign throughout this election cycle, any and all help would be appreciated.
Also, I truly value opinions and concerns. That is one of the main reasons I am running. So many parents, students and teachers feel like they aren't being heard. I'm listening.
